Do you want to work with music in the church? Play at services, lead choirs, and help shape the musical life in a vibrant congregation? Then we are looking for you!
Your main responsibilities include playing at services and masses, and collaborating with volunteers and staff to develop the musical life at Carlskyrkan. Additionally, you will organize and coordinate musicians for services and perform other practical music-related tasks. Choir work is a significant part of the role, with a current special focus on children and young people. There is also an opportunity to start an adult choir if you wish to pursue this. The position also involves some district-wide work within EFS Västerbotten, which may include serving as a camp leader for music camps or confirmation camps.
At Carlskyrkan, people from various backgrounds and ages gather. We are a church with many different activities for both children and adults – ranging from scouts, seniors, and integration work to daily lunches. Carlskyrkan is a collaborative church between the Church of Sweden and EFS, where the EFS association runs the operations with great volunteer engagement. You will be based at Carlskyrkan, which is part of the Ålidhem parish in the Umeå pastorate and EFS Västerbotten. You will also collaborate with musicians in the Ålidhem parish and EFS Västerbotten. In the team at Carlskyrkan, you will work as a musician alongside a priest, a deacon, a housekeeper, consultants, and an assistant housekeeper.
We are looking for someone who
- has musical education or equivalent experience and knowledge
- plays piano and preferably organ
- has experience leading choirs, preferably children's choirs
- is good at connecting with people
- is a team player who can collaborate but also work independently
- has a personal Christian faith, is a member of the Church of Sweden, and preferably has knowledge of EFS
- has good proficiency in Swedish, both spoken and written.
Personal suitability is highly valued.

The position is 80%, with the possibility of 80–100% depending on your competencies and how the role is shaped together. It is a permanent position starting with a 6-month probation period. The employment agreement is between Arbetsgivaralliansen and Vision Ekumeniska, with EFS Västerbotten as the employer. Working hours: flexible working hours.

The district office is centrally located in Umeå, but the work covers all of Västerbotten.
